Pabal
Pabal is a panchayat village in Shirur taluka of Pune district, Maharashtra. It is known as the burial place of Mastani, and her tomb can be seen here.
In 2009 some thieves dug up and desecrated Mastani’s grave. A rumour had spread that the diamond she is believed to have swallowed to end her life was in the grave. Muslims and Hindus of the village gathered to press the local administration to restore the tomb.
The villages of Kendur, Pabal and Loni were given to Mastani as an inam (grant) by Shrimant Bajirao Peshwa (the first).
